A pair of narrow, vertical canvases with dense horizontal layering, with a darker and more muted range of color and movement than my Dancing Mesas of earlier this year.

A follow up to my earlier Alkali Playa, this experimental painting uses a variety of media including house paint, spray paint and water based dyes as well as artist's acrylic colors.

This new painting is based, like Obidos, on walls of character—this one the lone surviving wall of the Roman temple of Apollo in Sicily.

This is the second in my RING series, this one painted in 2013.

Prints: Deerstone

In another, smaller group of water based monotypes from 2006, entitled Deerstone, I used a similar format to the Stela series, but experimented with a cut out template that allowed for an even larger range of colors and textures within a single print—with unforeseen and often pleasing results!
